Adding An RV
Click the + New RV button in the toolbar to open the New RV modal. There are several ways to get An RV into your garage — choose whichever matches how you found the RV.
Paste a Listing URL
The fastest method. If you're browsing a dealer's site or RVTrader and you find An RV you want to track:
- Copy the Text from your the RV's Ad.
- In the New RV screen, paste the text into the Paste Listing Text field.
- RVThinker will use AI to extracting details like year, make, model, price, stock number, mileage, and more.
- You can paste and Process text multiple times on one listing.
- Review the extracted information. Fields that were successfully parsed will be pre-filled.
- Correct anything that looks wrong and fill in anything that was missed.
- Click Create.
RVThinker uses AI to extract details from listing pages and ad text. It's good but not perfect — always glance over the parsed results before saving. Things like floorplan codes, custom color names, and option packages are hard to parse automatically. We don't even try for color fields, and Tires seldom do good.
Paste Ad Text
Looking at a Facebook Marketplace post or a PDF flyer. You can paste the raw text of the ad:
- Copy the ad text (price, description, specs — whatever's there).
- Paste it into the text field in the New RV modal.
- The AI parser will extract what it can.
- Review, correct, and complete the details.
- Click Create.
Manual Entry
If you prefer to enter everything yourself, simply fill in the fields directly. The key fields are:
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Year | Model year (e.g., 2023) |
| Make | Manufacturer (e.g., Tiffin, Newmar, Entegra) |
| Model | Model name (e.g., Allegro Bus, Dutch Star) |
| Floorplan | Layout code (e.g., 45OPP). This is often the most important differentiator between otherwise-identical RVs. |
Beyond these, there are many optional fields covering mechanical specs, colors, features, and more. You don't need to fill in everything — add what matters to you and what helps you tell this RV apart from others.
Seller & Listing Information
When you add An RV, you'll also enter information about where it's listed:
- Seller name — the dealership or private seller. RVThinker will suggest existing sellers as you type, so you can link multiple RVs to the same dealer.
- Location — city, state, zip code
- Stock number — the dealer's reference number
- Price — the current asking price
- URL — a link back to the original listing
This creates the RV's first listing. A single RV can have multiple listings if it appears at different dealers or on different sites. See Managing Listings for more.
Duplicate Detection
If you try to add An RV with a VIN that already exists in your garage, RVThinker will warn you. This prevents accidentally creating duplicate entries for the same physical RV. You'll have the option to view the existing RV instead.
Linking to an Existing RV
Sometimes the same RV appears on a different dealer's site with a different listing. Instead of creating a new RV, you can link the new listing to an existing RV in your garage. The New RV modal provides this option when it detects a potential match.
- Same physical RV, different listing → link to existing RV
- Different physical RV → create a new RV, even if the make and model are the same
