RV Details
Click any RV card in your garage to open its detail view. This is the most information-rich screen in RVThinker — it shows everything you know about a particular RV.
The Specs Panel
The left side (or top, on mobile) displays the RV's specifications. These are organized by category:
Basic Information
- Year / Make / Model — the RV identity
- Floorplan — the layout designation
- VIN — Vehicle Identification Number
- Chassis — the base platform (e.g., Freightliner, Spartan)
Dimensions & Capacity
- Length — overall length in feet
- Slide-outs — number of slide-out rooms
- Sleeping capacity — how many people it sleeps
Mechanical
- Engine — engine type (diesel, gas, etc.)
- Horsepower — engine power rating
- Transmission — automatic, Allison, etc.
- Mileage — odometer reading
- Generator — brand and hours, if known
Features & Options
- Solar panels — wattage or panel count
- Batteries — type and count (lithium, AGM, etc.)
- Washer / Dryer — whether the RV has laundry
- Dishwasher — yes or no
- Eating area — dinette, booth, free-standing table
- Awnings — number and type
- Tires — brand, size, age
Colors & Interior
- Exterior color
- Cabinet color
- Couch color or material
You only see what's been entered. If you haven't recorded the tire brand, that field simply won't appear. Don't feel pressure to complete every field — focus on the details that matter for your comparison.
The Listings Selector
A single RV can be tracked across multiple listings — maybe it's on RVTrader, the dealer's own site, and Facebook Marketplace. A dropdown or selector at the top of the detail view lets you switch between listings to see the seller info, price history, and notes for each one.
See Managing Listings for a deeper dive.
Price History and Observations
Below the listing information, you'll see a table of observations and prices recorded over time. Each row shows:
- Date — when this price was observed
- Amount — the asking price at that time, if it was recorded
- Status — e.g., "Found" (still available) or "Gone" (listing removed)
This is the core of RVThinker's price tracking. Every time you check a listing and the price has changed, record the new price. Over time, you build a history that shows whether the RV is trending down, holding firm, or going up.
The observations idea lets you log when you've physically or virtually checked on An RV:
The normal status for a listing is "Active". You can use the Status field for other tracking purposes. It will be changed to Sold when a Sold observation is recorded.
Image Gallery
The bottom of the detail view contains the image gallery:
- View images in a lightbox viewer — click any thumbnail to see it full-size
- Upload new images — drag and drop, click to browse, or even paste from your clipboard
- Reorder images — drag thumbnails to rearrange them. The first image is what appears on the RV card in your garage.
- Delete images — remove any image you no longer need
If you're browsing a dealer's site and see a photo you want to save, right-click and copy the image, then paste directly into RVThinker's image upload area. No need to save to a file first.
Editing From the Detail View
The detail view includes an Edit button that opens the RV editor. This is the same editor you get from the pencil icon on the card, just accessed from within the detail view for convenience.
