First-Time Setup
The first time you sign in, your garage will be empty. RVThinker walks you through a couple of optional steps to get you oriented.
Demo RVs
When your garage has zero RVs, RVThinker offers to load demo RVs:
"Welcome! Your garage is empty. Would you like to load some demo RVs so you can explore?"
You have two choices:
- Load Demo RVs — Adds a handful of sample RVs with realistic data: different makes, models, years, and price points. This lets you click around, open RV details, explore price history, and generally learn the interface without committing to anything. You can delete the demo RVs at any time.
- Skip for now — Starts you with a clean garage. You'll add your first real RV whenever you're ready.
If you're new to RVThinker, load the demos. They give you something to click on while you read this guide, and you can always remove them later.
Setting Your Home Location
If you didn't fill in your address during registration, consider doing so now — specifically your zip code. Distance calculations won't work without it.
- Click the hamburger menu (☰) in the toolbar.
- Click User Settings.
- Fill in your zip code (and optionally city, state, and address).
- Click Save.
With your zip code set, every listing you add with a seller zip code will automatically show the distance.
Display Name for Social Users
If you signed in via Google, Facebook, Microsoft, or GitHub for the first time, a Welcome modal may appear asking you to set a display name. This name is shown in messages and is how other users (including admins) identify you. Pick something recognizable — your first name, a nickname, or anything you prefer.
